Acupuncture

Acupuncture, a key component of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) involves the insertion of very thin needles through your skin at specific points on your body.

  • Acupuncture promotes blood flow. This is significant because everything the body needs to heal is in the blood, including oxygen, nutrients we absorb from food, immune substances, hormones, analgesics (painkillers), and anti-inflammatories. Restoring proper blood flow is vital to promoting and maintaining health.

  • Acupuncture activates and enhances the body's built-in healing mechanisms. Acupuncture stimulates the central nervous system to adjust hormone secretion to balance itself which enhances the body’s natural healing abilities through complex neurochemical pathways that affect the immune system, the endocrine system, the nervous system and the inflammatory process.

Scraping (GuaSha)

During your scraping therapy, your physician will use a flake tool to gently “scrape” in one direction over any muscle that is experiencing problems.

  • Scraping can significantly improve the blood perfusion volume and increase the temperature in the scraping area, promoting local blood circulation and energy metabolism.

  • Applied on muscles experiencing problems, scraping can reduce soft tissue restrictions and muscle restrictions. Applied on the back, with different maneuvers, it can either boost the immune system or decrease inflammation

Cupping

Cupping therapy is one of the treatment modalities of Traditional Chinese Medicine which suction is applied to a special cup and then placed on the problematic areas. The skin and muscles are then pulled into the suction.

  • draw over-accumulated metabolite to the surface. Cupping allows the body to remove that metabolite and stimulate local circulation for healing.

  • enhance circulation and relieve tightness of the muscle. The skin and muscle are stimulated by being pulled into the suction allowing energy and blood to circulate.

Bruising, from dark purple to bright red, is common and the color, texture, location of the bruising reveals how much tension or stagnation has been built upon those areas.

Over time with consistent treatment, there will be an increase in local blood flow and a decrease in muscle recovery time. That is why many athletes seek cupping treatments to help keep up and improve their performance.

Cupping is often used in conjunction with acupuncture and is beneficial to patients who has muscle aches ranging from sitting at a computer desk to running marathons.

Infrared Therapy

Infrared therapy uses certain wavelengths of light that can penetrate below the skin layers, proving a much greater depth which is able to provide a vast range of health benefits without damaging the skin. It allows people to harness the benefits of the sun without being exposed to harmful ultraviolet rays.

  • Increase local blood flow. The increase in the blood flow to the different parts of the body makes it possible for oxygen and nutrients to reach the cells, enabling them to function properly and effectively. Hence, this therapy stimulates the regeneration and repair of injured tissues, reducing pain and inflammation.

  • Infusing light/heat energy. Absorbed by photoreceptors in cells, the light energy kickstarts a series of metabolic events, triggering several natural processes of the body on a cellular level.

  • Used in conjunction with acupuncture. Applied to chosen points, infrared light can enhance the healing power of acupuncture. Infrared light therapy is applied in the treatment of various health conditions, including back pain, arthritis, bursitis, blunt trauma, muscle strain, carpal tunnel syndrome, neck pain, back pain, diabetic neuropathy, rheumatoid arthritis, temporomandibular joint pain (TMJ), tendonitis, wounds, sciatica, and surgical incisions.
